Access Humboldt is a nonprofit community media organization based in Humboldt County California we manage four local
television channels hosted on Suddenlink cable and one station on southern
Humboldt WAVE network we also operate a Community Media Center located on the
campus of Eureka high school that features a television studio video
equipment rentals and digital media editing workstations the CMC is open to
our members from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and on the second
Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access Humboldt’s mission is to empower local voices through community media as
your digital soapbox Access Humboldt airs content provided by Humboldt County
residents without editorial control or prior restraint Access Humboldt works
closely with the students at your high school reserving our facilities for
their use during the school day and offering free memberships and training
to all EHS students and faculty becoming a member of Access Humboldt is easy and affordable individual memberships are just $25 per year and benefits include
on-site internet access video editing tools and once certified video equipment
rentals and the use of our high definition television studio alternating
each second Saturday of the month we offer our basic studio and basic field
certification classes once certified our members may rent our television studio
to mount their own non-commercial productions
upon completion of basic field certification members may rent our
camera kits which also include microphones tripods and all the
accessories you’ll need to make professional quality videos Access Humboldt also operates kzz hlp 96.7 our low-power FM radio stations programming includes
public meetings local weather and Caltrans information student voices from
Eureka high school programs of community interest created by your friends and
neighbors classical music and much more Access Humboldt also offers professional
video production services at low cost to local government agencies nonprofit
organizations and community groups these services include the
creation of public service announcements gavel to gavel meeting coverage community event recording and live streaming in fact Access Humboldt’s main mission is
bringing public meetings to the citizens of Humboldt County so they might be
fully informed about the workings of their local governments not only does
Access Humboldt provide community media services and equipment we also advocate
on behalf of our members on broadband policy issues in Sacramento and
Washington DC the goal of these efforts is to encourage legislators defend
privacy protections and resist regulatory capture by powerful
corporations we fight for public interest by lobbying legislators
submitting comments during FCC proceedings and working to keep the
community informed about what’s going on in the halls of power
