Pathway and outreach programs can
provide academic enrichment and healthcare exposure to learners from
diverse backgrounds. They can strengthen academic records, provide clinical opportunities with health professionals and engage critical thinking skills. In keeping with the Brody School of Medicine mission of increasing the supply of primary care physicians serving the state, improving the health status of citizens in eastern North Carolina and enhancing access of disadvantaged and minority students to a medical education. We introduce you to Brody RISE. So, what is Brody RISE? Building on the concepts of the
algebraic expression for slope y=mx+B where m is the slope and B is
the y-intercept. We derived the concept for our program from the coordinate plane. The y-axis represents increasing levels of academic accomplishment while the x-axis represents point of entry into the program. Brody RISE is a pathway designed to
increase diversity and medicine through academic enrichment and healthcare
exposure. Brody RISE meets learners where they are across the spectrum of academic accomplishment. Pre-College Community College Undergraduate or Post-Baccalaureate levels. As learners rise to a career in health care and research while increasing leadership skills and professionalism. Meet Brody RISE, a positive slope to a career in healthcare and research.
