DEPOSITS THEY WERE EXPECTING… HAD NEVER BEEN DEPOSITED.. THE RHODE-ISLAND-BASED BANK ACKNOWLED THE ISSUE ON TWITTER – AROUND 9 O’CLOCK IN THE MORNING… “Customers are seeing a delay in transactions posting to their accounts, due to a vendor processing issue.” IN A FOLLOW UP TWEET… CITIZENS BANK SAID: “This issue is affecting multiple financial institutions. We appreciate the patience of our customers as we work to resolve this issue.” BY LATE MORNING – CITIZENS BANK SAID THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED… AND MESSAGE ON THE BANK’S WEBSITE READ… “The issue has now been resolved. Due to heavy volumes, we are expecting a slowdown in online and mobile banking. We appreciate your patience as we continue to work through this.” LAUREN DEGERONIMO OF CITIZENS BANK… TELLS ME – THE ERROR AFFECTED TRANSACTIONS INCLUDING POINT OF SALE, ATM & CREDITS. SHE DECLINED TO SAY WHAT VENDOR CAUSED THE ERROR. BUT ADDED CUSTOMERS WILL NOT BE CHARGED ANY OVERDRAFT FEES RELATED TO THIS INCIDENT. DEGERONIMO TOLD ME CUSTOMERS IN ALL 11 STATES WHERE CITIZENS BANK OPERATES WERE IMPACTED BY THE ISSUE. BUT AGAIN – IT WAS RESOLVED BY LATE MORNING AND CITIZENS SAYS ALL ACCOUNTS SHOULD BE CURRENT.
