My name is Tambolo Sake Marie, I’m from Cameroon and I work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Department of Asia Affairs and Cooperation with the Islamic Organization. My name is Kevin Irandagiye, I am Burundi and I work for the African Union Commission in the Department of Administration. Being able to get to know more about what is up with the European Union and Africa relationship was very attracting for me. When the information came, after going through all the details we also talked about diverse training. And also being in this great capital – Vienna – was also something interesting and attractive to come for. I saw many interesting courses for my country like health or diplomacy, anti-corruption issues, negotiation, which is very important for my career as a young diplomat. So I was so happy to come to Vienna and learn more. Technics of negotiation, which we had yesterday, and the diplomacy of health. I learned more about it because I did not have enough knowledge about this subject. So I think I will help my country with all the knowledge I have there and it will be fruitful for me. Yesterday’s course, which was on negotiation skills and competence, as well as the ongoing one. As African Union we are always in negotiations, be it conflict resolution, be it some trade policies. If we are also looking at having a career in diplomacy, you need to know how to speak well and having these negotiation skills is an important tool as a representative of an international organization. So far I really have enjoyed the training with regards to presentation skills and negotiation skills but also the general view of the European Union which is something we have learned in history but here we received a more practical general view of the EU and its work with Africa as well as the internal policy of the EU and how the EU operates as itself. It’s very nice! Vienna is a beautiful town. I learned about history, most of the museums, opera. I wanted to come back.
