Do you live in Milpitas, San Jose, or Fremont? San Jose Do you work? Yes, I work. Where do you work? I’m a machine operator at Sunnyvale. (He has worked at Calstone for 19 years!) Have you taken any trips outside the United States in the past five years? Yes. Two years (ago), I went Mexico on November 19 and came back on December 11, 2017. Are you divorced? No, I’m married. (His wife, Claudia, was one of my first Citizenship students). How many children do you have? I have five children. (One of his daughters in serving in the US Army Reserves). Have you ever claimed to be a US citizen? No Do you owe any taxes? No Have you ever been a terrorist? No Have you have you ever participated in a rebel group militia or army? No Do you do you support the US Constitution? Yes If the law requires, it are you willing to bear arms? Yes What is bear arms? I use a gun to protect the United States. Are you willing to perform non-combatant services for the United States? Yes Do you promise everything that you said
is true? Yes Okay, now I’m going to ask you some (civics) questions. Are you ready? Yes What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment? Petition the government Who makes the federal laws? the president The President or Congress? the Congress We elect a president for how many years? four (years) What are two cabinet level positions? Secretary of Labor, Secretary of State What is the political party of the president now? Republican When is the last day you can send in federal income tax forms? April 15th When was the Constitution written? 1787 Yeah good! What did the Emancipation Proclamation do? Freed the slaves! What major event happened on September 11, 2001 in the United States? Terrorist attacked the United States. Why does the flag have 13 stripes? because there were 13 original colonies Can you read this sentence? When is Independence Day? Take this pen.
