Humanity and Society are Basically Good -Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Shambhala

It was actually fifty, almost fifty years ago or more that my father literally stood at the roof of the world, at the peak of the Himalayas, before he descended into the Indian sub-continent being severely shaken by the cruelty of humanity, by the desecration and loss of his own country and culture. And what he contemplated during that journey was his trust in human nature; and through his contemplation he, as we have discussed here, came to the conclusion that humanity is basically good. But having seen his actual society dissolve, he contemplated the nature of society itself; and in that great contemplation, he also came to an amazing conclusion, which is that society itself is basically good, despite many, many… cruelty and challenges.
