Hi, this is Ron Couillard, Sr. Technical Specialist with U.S. CAD. During our next installment of technical Tuesday for December, I’m going to be talking to you about Xrefs vs. Drefs, or data shortcuts, the ins and outs of both, why would I use one versus the other, and a little bit of background information on each. We’re going to talk about things like: how come when I go into my Xref manager, some of my options are grayed out? And, while we’re on that topic, what are some of these options? Why do I care why there’s an option to attach or to overlay and what’s up with all these path types as well? So we’ll talk about that and some best practices to avoid potential hiccups with those. Then we’ll also talk about data shortcuts, or Drefs. What exactly are they? What can I use them for? Why would I want to use them instead of Xrefs? What can I accomplish with them that an Xref can’t do? And ultimately, what
are some of the pitfalls that I can run into when I use data shortcuts I’ll probably also mention any of the newer things that came out in some of the newer versions of Civil 3D when it
comes to data shortcuts. Hope you can join us on December 5th for Infrastructure Tuesday. Hope to see you there.
