Les little citizens et le low tech

Hello my name is Louise and I am 17 years old and yesterday with some friends we went to a conference. So it’s a series of conferences on the environment, and yesterday it was “Hope, technology”. It took place from 8pm to 10pm at MAME, so it is the Creation and innovation complex in Tours. I’m Louise and I’m 16 years old. So the first topic that was discussed at the technology conference was green technologies that talk about green energies that are supposed to produce less CO2. The extraction of rare earths leading to deforestation is one of the consequences of the manufacture of green technologies, such as solar panels or wind turbines. For example, in the Baotou mine in China, there is 32 times more radioactivity than normal, while in Chernobyl it is only 14 times more. My name is Sue-Shana, I’m 17 years old. During this conference, the speaker talked to us about the low tech lab. What is the low tech lab: the low tech lab is an association that aims at developing low technology. It promotes sustainable lifestyles and thinks about tomorrow’s housing by proposing concrete solutions. Low technology is a new way to use technology in a simpler, more sustainable way. Indeed, housing consumes 45% of the total energy in France. As a result, this association offers concrete solutions such as the “bio digester” and recyclable showers. We also learned, in this conference, that 53% of waste in France comes from households. This is equivalent to 20kg of food thrown away per year and per household. To help us, the low tech lab offers us solutions through videos on their website or on their youtube.
