Now the testing ground for the India’s Citizen Squad. Up ahead is the Gemini run. A signature training of the Marcos that will test their endurance, team work and strategic thinking. Manav, where is your scarf? Sir, I lost it. You lost it. Okay. So red team, Rohit. Your team is going to be penalized for this Yes sir
Right!!! …Yes sir You are going to get the heavier boat So, what we are doing now is called Gemini PT. You are going to be trained on how to lift and move. And then we are going to have a small competition Lifting a raft and carrying it over a distance Is not just about being able to shoulder the weight. It is also about team work. When you’re in a water disaster crisis or in a flood… Then you might have to use a raft Ready!!
Yes sir!! Ok. Red team on this raft.
Blue team on that raft. Now we will lift
The ones standing on the right side, hold the handle and carry from your right side The ones on the left, carry the
handle and hold from the left Now what you have to do, on my count, when I say 1,2 and up
Everybody has to carry this on their shoulder Ready?
Ready Teams Yes sir!!
1, 2 and up! Up on your shoulder
Waapas down, down. Take rest Good to go?
Yes Sir For the competition?
Yes Sir Great. Line up. The raft when you look at it looks like a very light weighted boat. But when you actually go to lift it up That’s what I felt it was very heavy The rules for the Gemini PT are clear. Each team has to balance the over
100 kg Gemini on the shoulders, and do a carefully coordinated
run to reach three check points. To reach the first check point,
They have to way through knee dip icy waters. The team to reach the second check point later, will get an added penalty and a greater weight to carry. And the team to reach the third check point first, wins the advantage that will only be revealed during the final mission. On the RAFT
ONE,TWO AND UP I made a plan for my team, that we have to be very fast means we have to take a lead in the water. The one in the front was Manav, who will pull the raft. The one at the back will hold the raft and push. Okk, good. Good Good good good. Good you’re nearly there. You’re nearly there. Okay so who reached here first?
Red Team!! Blue team gets a penalty
Where is the sand bag? Here sir.
Put it inside. In Gemini PT, the coordination of the team is tested in which our team failed Okay. So now the same drill and you have to run till, those two flags. Ok? Yes sir!!
Ready .. Yes sir We lifted our raft and Manav screamed RUNN!! And we all, we did not think and we said to hell with everything else we are just going to run Hold, hold hold hold! Hold, take weight down, take weight. Easy easy! Easy!! don’t drop the boat Okay, well fought blue, red is the winner We won by like not much of a distance. But we still won I mean we did very well. 11 PM. It’s way past bed time. But for the India’s Citizen Squad there is worse to come. They developed a comfort level with water through the day. Now its time to raise the bar And build greater water confidence. We are training these young boys and girls to be the first responder. It starts by having the confidence to do something in a situation where others around you are frozen. So that is the first thing you would want them to embide. Up. Second. Step rakho As far as confidence building is concerned, I wouldn’t call it training as much as conditioning. And that’s been one of the objects of this program right from the beginning. To put the participants in, in stress situations. Over the period of time once you have been through these situation You look back and say if I could do that, I can certainly do this. This is one of those things. The activity which we are making them do now, will be in the icy cold glacier water. If they can train in this water,
it will be a great confidence builder, and they will be able to perform well in any situation. Sit down
Leave the hand What have you guys come to do here? Jaise Ek baar andar baith gaye, fir uske baad body ek dum sun si ho gayi. Uske baad kuch samajh nai aa rahan hain kya ho rahan hain, kya nahin ho rahan Which drill will you guys do?
MARCOS PT! By putting somebody in icy cold water for some time. In one instant it is not going to
permanently remove the fear of water. But it will certainly give him or her a lot of confidence. Ashish, what’s camp commander’s’ name? Colonel Sareen Sir!
Colonel Sareen? yes sir Colonel Sareen Sir! You made him a captain! Nope, again! One two three four! After going in the cold freezing water that night I couldn’t speak or remember anything. Captain Bana diya tune colonel ko. Haan?? Sonu what is the name of your trainers? Girish sir. That’s it, you forgot? Fast! Come on hurry up Sir, I forgot
That’s it? Submerge him in the water The water was so cold that my brain literally stopped working. I kept forgetting everything. you forgot?

Sorry Sir 1,2,3 down This manav isn’t leaving Manav you didn’t’ leave yet He’s gone now The water was freezing cold. I was trying to ensure that I don’t wet my hair, but they made me go for a double dip. I was dreading the water honestly. It was chilling, it was cold. But honestly this has taken out a lot of fear from me Sir had asked me what was the
name of our camp commander And I flustered and said captain I was like, I died when they put my head under water.
