People Try Walking Their Cats

– [Voiceover] Here. (playful music, featuring a trumpet) – Mars and I have been cat human buddies for
about five years now. He’s just this, he’s
the biggest stoner cat. He just loves to sit around, eat, he loves being in bags, I don’t know what to say,
he just loves being in bags. – This is my cat Riceball, he’s very friendly, he’s
more like a dog cat, He like, he does not afraid of people, he doesn’t scratch, or anything. No, he has never been outside before, but when I moved out to LA, I did brought him with me, but he’s never been actually,
physically on the ground. – My name in Rocco, and I love cats. More than I could love anything else. My first adult job, being a cat care attendant at the SPCA, and moved into cat behavior specialist at the San Francisco SPCA. This guy is like, the most
special cat I’ve ever met. I just was realizing
that I wouldn’t sell him for a million dollars. I think the benefits of
walking a cat on a leash is that they do get that outdoor time, but then there’s no chance that they’re going to get mauled
or carried away by a coyote. I would say the first
piece of advice I have, not all cats are gonna take to a harness. – [Devin] Can you stay still for a second? Stay still. No. – So right now I’m trying
to put the leash on him. – I’m not hurting my cat, I promise, I’m just kind of making him do something that is good for him ultimately. – [Iris] Riceball thank you! But you have to come back! – If your cat freezes in the harness, then you’re going to have to work on its relationship to
being inside that harness before you can take it outside. – So, I had to call in backup, this is my roommate Abby, we are going to attempt
to put this on him. Yay, the harness is on! – Oh, but you look so cute in this! – He doesn’t look happy, does he? – [Abby] No, no, that’s not
a happy cat right there. – [Devin] He does not look happy. – Okay, I heard you. – The best advice with any type of behavioral issue with a cat is try to figure out
how to work with them. Because if it knows you want something, it’s not going to do it. So if you want them to do something, then you’re gonna have to
figure out how to trick them into thinking that they want it. – What is this? Look at it! Oh! Oh! He’s walking with me! – Here we go! Let’s try this. No, let’s go this way. No, let’s go this way. (Mars meows) Mars! – [Iris] Let’s go, let’s go. Let’s go, treat! – [Devin] Mars, c’mon. C’mon baby. We’re just gonna go, no, we’re just gonna go on a little walk. – (laughing) Look at her! – He’s stressing me out, I’m really, this is really stressful. This is very, very stressful. Uh, he’s not liking this, at all. – Oh he’s, he’s doing
better than I thought. I thought he was just gonna,
like, sitting in one corner, and doesn’t move at all. But he’s making some kind of process. C’mon, let’s go! – Mars is now wedged in
between my neighbors hedge and my front porch. – We probably walked, like, three steps out of apartment? The apartment door is right there. – I just feel like maybe
this wasn’t for him. Right? You wanna go back inside? – And cats, we’re built to serve them. That’s why the ancient
Egyptian’s worshipped them, you know what I mean? I live to serve my cat, and that’s honest. So, if he wants to go on a walk, I’m gonna provide that service.

The way these women and gays treat their cats is an absolute disgrace. If you have a cat you should NOT keep it inside. How would you like to be forced to live in a few rooms, after having your development screwed up by de-sexing. If you don’t have room for an outside cat, get some fish!

Kind of funny, but doesn't this seem a little bit mean? :p

Cats aren't doggos, of course they'd hate that. :p

My experience is, you cant just directly walk them outside.. You can do it step by step.. 1st, make it adapt with scenario infront of your house.. Do it like twice or 3 times a week, depends on your free time.. Ang then after a month, you can slowly take it a bit far, and so on.. Make cats explore themeselves, just dont hurry, they'll get scared n they wont go or do it again..

Cats need to feltl confident and secure, if they never get out, they should let them be closer where they felt safer, they try to push them out of their safety and scare them. Is like when my cats are scare to something immediately they run to get inside. My male could run directly to me if he see me closer when he felt scare. Understand cats are small(they felt vulnerable) and territorial.

I only once tried to walk my cat in a harness. We walked a few steps – then a car went by and backfired – the harness was snug fitting. In that instant my cat was out of that harness so fast that I was astounded. I know cats are very agile and fast but I was stunned that she could do that. The cat was fine but that ended my cat walking attempts.

cats are very territorial so when you try to walk them and get them out of the house ( aka : their territory ) then they'll feel like they're outside their comfort zone

You can walk your cat by positive association…like when it makes steps towards you treat it… Then treat it again…so it associates it with something positive to them which is food…then after weeks of practice it will walk with you on a leash.

I tried to do this with my cat and she just wanted to go where she wanted to go forgetting she had lead attached to her. It is weird when you actually see someone with their cat walking next to them on a lead

Is this some first world cat problem cuz at my parents house, we keep all our cats outside in the yards roaming free, and they follow us everywhere when we’re walking our dogs or when we’re just chilling outside. They don’t even need leashes

I love animals and all but like don't you think they're dirty? They walk on pavements and dirt and everything and then you go pick them up and hug them, they go run in your room and flop on your bed with their dirty paws. Not all pets take a bath daily after a walk!

Its so funny! My Persian cat always only show 3 emotions : hungry, angry, sleepy 😂 ask her for walk? If she can talk, she probably would say "you dream too much!" 😂

Cats and humans are equal. Neither owns the other party. We just happen to live in a same space, it's taken for granted that we pay their food. Then again cats are cute and they fill the space.

I have two Maine Coon boys and three Norwegian Forest girls. All of them love to go for a walk in the woods with me. Luckily the forest starts right at our fence 🤣

You need time and training to get them used to everything. Use food. Make sure your cat doesn't fall over (remove directly from cat and leave them alone if so). Make sure ur cat can move like normal in your home (running, jumping) before going outside. Never pull your cat over the floor (The cat get psychologically hurt at this point in the video) you dont pull them over the floor. This is a sign that the cat is uncomfortable and you keep pulling them.

Honestly it ain't funny. They are uncomfortable they are probably going to loose trust in them. They are stressing the cats out. I ain't a cat expert, actually I hate cats but they are treating the cats like trash.
