Sikh Society’s Guru Ka Langar (UCL)

Sikh Society’s Guru Ka Langar (UCL)

Guru ka langar is basically just a kind of free food for all regardless of caste, colour, creed, sex, anything. It’s a great way to kind
of just put the principles of equality, sharing what you
have with others and just kind of seeing the best in all.
So here we are, sharing what we have with everyone at UCL.
And hopefully everyone enjoys it.>>This idea is so
cool with the carpets and things and the food’s been amazing.>>It’s quite interesting about
the significance of all of it and yeah, the food’s pretty good.>>It’s so nice seeing everyone from across the university
just coming and sitting together
and sharing a meal. [ Music ]

Theoretically it can be anything, so long as it is vegetarian and preferably there are enough things on offer to make a healthy balanced meal. At most gurdwara services I've been to, langar is almost always an Indian thali style vegetarian meal of a dhal (lentil or pulses curry), a sabzi (curried vegetables), rice and chapattis and sometimes other kinds of bread from India (Chapattis in langar are special because it's easy to offer them to participants as a special blessing), and finally there is often a dessert and sometimes also fruits and sweets on offer as well as water, tea and other drinks.

I've been to Sikh worship in the form of meditation also, but because it's a smaller gathering and it's outside the temple it's usually just samosas or other Indian snacks, tea and other drinks and crisps, biscuits and sweets to share together.

I hope some of the professors came and sat with the students to receive Guru ka Langarr sitting on the floor as the Emperor Akbar did in the time of Guru Amar Das Ji.

This is what sikhs do everywhere and you know what muslims do everywhere in the world still people mistake us for the same, when in facts the most brutal attack muslims did were on sikh gurus. Read about the guru gobind singh ji and you will know.

    Nueve Elusive

Please feel free to find fault in this post so that we may improve on it.

    Q. What's the difference between everybody being rich and money not existing?

    A. No difference.

So with that being said in order for the current monetary system to work we need the rich, middle and poor, hence why the homeless issue hasn't been resolved cause the homeless issue is part of societies template.

Solution A: change societies template so needing the homeless to exist is no longer a requirement.

If solution A is not possible.

Solution B: Make homeless life as comfortable as possible.

    How?

Equipment (customized to make it easily identifiable as homeless issued so to prevent resell): Issue every homeless person the best outdoor ultra strong, ultra light weight sleeping bag, bivi bag (water proff sleeping bag liner), roll matt, ruck sack, clothing and basic essentials.

Skills: Have centers that teaches the homeless survival skills. i.e how to stay warm (3 layer ststem) Health and hygiene, first aid, and etc…. (just knowing how to keep up the basic health and hygiene will already save the NHS millions££ every year).

Food: Most business that deals with food tend to give whatever is destin for waste to the homeless (so teach which foods to avoid, that too will also save the NHS millions££ every year).

I have more ideas to add but that will be all for now.

Disposable plates must not be used and it is heart wrenching to see the left overs in the plate which is more than insult.
