this gross leather bag is too old to be welcome "on the scene" at the parties of the beautiful people anymore so she decided to become a traitor. She should be treated as such and hanged or executed by firing squad if she ever returns to the country that provided opportunity for her to amass wealth beyond comprehension to 99% of the planet. I guess now she needs another yacht more than she needs America to be successful. A truly disgusting and perverse excuse for a human being.

People should revolt. The government has turned their backs on the poor while catering the upper class. First it was off shore tax havens, paying little or no taxes, and now anticipating public rebellion, the rich burn their passports and flee with their cash. They should be branded international fugitives and extradited back to the US so they can be hanged and their asset reclaimed. The politicians need to line up for the guillotine. Americans demand a perp walk from the rich and corrupt.

As far as I know, Denise Rich is an Austrian citizen now, not a British one. Why would Britain give her citizenship?

  11. Post
    Author
    Michal Parusinski

Austrians have a right to live and work in Britain (EU laws/regulations).

Anyway the Young Turks are wrong here, the citizenship renouncing has nothing to do with tax avoidance. If she just moved into Britain but kept here U.S. passport and lived there for more than 6 months then she would be a tax resident of Britain and not the U.S. and thus she will have only the obligation of paying taxes in the U.K. and not in the U.S.

In a nutshell residency prevails citizenship when paying taxes.

lol well as someone who has traveled to London, let me tell you this, I had seen at least 3-4 people fall down drunk while on my trip there, and it doesn't smell like piss anywhere near a bar/pub here because we have the sense to piss in a fucking toilet. 🙂

Ok? As someone who's been to Orlando and New York. Americans don't drink nearly as much as Europeans. Might be why. Also depending on where you go in London it is mostly full of scumbags. As for the sense to not piss on the floor that again is apart of the scumbags who think its funny to piss on the floor. I drink a lot when I go out yet some how intoxicated to the point I can barely stand I never miss the toilet. I'd agree the UK has more scumbags then the US at least on average.

Again, there is no argument except the fact that you're tresspassing every argument that I've made, and eventually conceding with personal attacks on a game that I (used to) play. Very mature.

I'm not going to argue that America doesn't have it's problems but the greedy corporate bastards who run our country are not representative of our culture as a whole.

Denouncing your passport just to save money is pretty stupid. It would have been better if she did so because she disliked the country and where it is going. Personally, I would do it if I didn't like where the country was going, but only at that point. Honestly though, I feel comfortable here, but if I felt more comfortable in Canada, Australia, or Japan, I probably would do what she did, only if I dislike this country, but not because of greed.

There is certain cases I'm ok with this. The USA is one of the few countries that requires you to pay income tax even if you are currently living in another country and you have zero income from the USA. In that case you are hit with double taxation from the USA and the country you chosen to live in. It's a major hit to pay that so people are faced with either moving back to the USA or renouncing citizenship.

TYT (who I agree with 95% usually) is always like "she enjoyed the good things about this country and then just up and left." Well she was paying taxes while she was enjoying those things! And now she's decided to forgo enjoying those things, and you still want her to pay? Taxes aren't a penalty for having money, despite what Fox News says. They're to pay for things that you benefit from, but wouldn't pay for voluntarily. If you aren't benefiting from American roads, why pay American taxes?

Actually, Canada also has it, as I had to pay both British and Canadian Income Tax whilst assigned to the London crew of Air Canada. Several countries have followed suit, including France, because of the abuse from people and corporations using countries like Ireland, Switzerland and Monaco as tax havens (Facebook and Google for example have declared their World HQs to be in Dublin for tax purposes, even though their actual HQs are both in California).

You should do a story on how Citizenship Based Taxation and its enforcer the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act has a negative impact on middle class Americans living overseas and living a foreign life with a foreign family and working at a foreign job that pays money that is useless to the U.S. Those 9 million + Americans living overseas are being forced to give up their U.S. citizenship so that they can enjoy freedom like all other foreigners living in another country (not the U.S.). This CBT and FATCA issue has became so big that there is even a bill in Congress to change the CBT system to be more in line with the tax system of the rest of the world. Check out the bill, its called H.R. 7358 Tax Fairness for Americans Abroad Act. Then there is another bill in Congress called HR 25 Fair Tax Act which completely eliminates the income tax and other taxes in favor of a national sales tax and it also eliminates the Internal Revenue Service in favor of a Sales Tax Bureau. It is time for Americans (including Americans abroad) to live life without tax complications.
