Love the video as always. The only thing I see that the Aquila has over the Carrack is that it is smaller so maybe it will be able to fit through medium jump points while the Carrack is confined to large jump points. Also you might be right about the Aquila being faster and more maneuverable but we won't know until we get more information about the Carrack because just like everything in star citizen it could change. Can't wait to see the Carrack in the verse so I can find a new system and claim it for my own

This is a joke right? The Carrack is a dedicated exploration ship so it is the superior ship for that purpose while also being much larger and roomy.

Another great video, Mr Oflove. I think it is also worth mentioning the carrack may have a larger crew requirement, a larger operating cost, and may or may not have a bigger target on its back from pirates. All considerations for some players.

I think you focused only on the functional aspects making this a bit one sided. You didn't talk about non functional aspects: how are the running costs going to differ, maintenance, crew, ability to solo or NPC crew, ability to stay undetected, ability to maneuver smaller or more dangerous jump points as well as the ability to escape difficult situations. Additionally do you need to hire escorts to protect the carrack and how are you going to coordinate the logistics (do you even like logistics?) of getting your crew together for more specialized roles: medic, science officer, drone op, etc. I would suggest that for similar comparisons you don't just to a feature check list. Off course the bigger ships will always have the biggest feature list just like a big cross country 18wheeler truck has more features than a pickup. Yet we all know there are reasons to choose the pickup truck over the big rig in real life for many practical and financial reasons. The same will be true of star citizen and many players may be interested different experiences or at least be aware that bigger = better for everything.

You didn't explain that you loose the size 2 missile bays that are normally mounted in the main holds ceiling to get the extra fuel tanks. I own both the Andromeda and the Aquila and the main hold ceiling is very different when you look at them. The Andromeda clearly has a huge missile magazine but it's swapped out for two extra fuel tanks.

I have a Reclaimer for exploration as it's the best explorer for the type of looking and finding things of value to bring back that I want to do rather than the cataloging type of exploring that I see these two ships being for.

Just swapped out my Connie for an Aquila. Not necessarily because of your video, but it was still nice to listen to while i was considering. I just was getting the feeling that the Connie multifunctionality was conflicting a little with its freighter role. I'll get something more specific for that.

I don't get why people assume that "bigger is better". Just because a ship is larger doesn't make it better. I own a Carrack but I know what risks I am taking by owning it. I also don't think a Carrack will be forced into large jump points only. Medium and up…

Carrack is much larger than Aquila; and it requires mores hands in the ship and escorts as well. So I say if you have or join a medium size org or have people and money dedicated for exploration; then go for the carrack. If you only have few friends or play solo; then Aquila is a good choice.

I'm not a fan of the Aquila (not really a fan of any Constellation, if I'm being honest) – but specifically, the Aquila seems to straddle a fence where I think it would be better to be on one side or the other.

I'm talking about the Carrack and Terrapin. For smaller/shorter operations, I'd rather have a Terrapin. And for longer/deeper operations, I'd rather have a Carrack. But in no situation do I think I want an Aquila. Go in one direction or the other, don't sit in the middle.

The Carrack gets both a snub ship and a rover, double the number of auxiliary craft of the Aquila.

The only thing that would be better is if I could put a Terrapin in my Carrack.

Freelancer DUR gets honorable mention here, but I honestly don't think I'd take that either.

The only real advantage the Aquila has is firepower – and not so much in guns, but missiles. They have roughly the same firepower in gun hardpoints, although the Aquila has more forward facing firepower, and the Carrack's is locked up in defensive turrets, spread around the ship. But the Aquila has missiles, the Carrack has none (unless the modular bays can be turned into some kind of missile hard point, but I doubt that).

I bought a Terrapin for solo exploration, but I do like the multi-crew capabilities of the Aquila and Carrack. Serving as a crew member on either ship will be fun. Purchasing either will have to be made using in game currency.

My problem with the Carrack is their design, in my point of view is one of the ugliest ships of SC, in the other hand, the Aquila is one of my favorites. I know the Carrack will be great for long trips with fellow crew members, but…

If you were to take one of this solo with an AI crew, which one would you choose? I'd be using one of them for salvage and mining exploration as well as recon for our org.

Do you know how the snub for the Carrack will be set up for deployment.

The one thing about the Carrack for me is it's ability to defend itself is lacking especially for a Military Pathfinder… but it is a recurring theme with CIG gimping shit for the sake of it. How is it that another Military Variant in the Star G for example is in the same boat lacking Point Defense but civilian ships like the 890J, Constellation Phoenix can have Point Defense systems? Hell even the Reclaimer has 4 class 9 Point Defense systems for a scrap collector but military ships that actually need them?????
The fact that the Aquila is better able to defend itself confirms something is wrong with CIG's logic… they keep stating that it's all about balance but gimping shit for the sake of it is another thing all together. The military doesn't compromise on expensive vessels… a Pathfinder should not be a soft target. It should also be able to carry a Military light fighter minimum.

Good video, But what about the freelancers Dur. I think should include this vessel until we get rich enough to by the other ships.

These two ships aren't even in the hunt for the title. They're too big. If they allow the Free-lancer and Cutlasses through a small jump-point then a customized version of these ships is probably the front-runner.

The carrack is easily worth the extra 75$ upgrade from an Aquila. It rarely has to refuel and has much more equipment

I had previously traded in my Aquila for a 600i. I just now traded that in for the Carrack. I have enough in additional pledges to pick up a Hull D. I figure I will grind for credits in safe space with the Hull D, and use that to upgrade the Carrack, with which I will see the sights.

I think the Carrack offers more in the way of modules and extra equipment. People should be happy with either ship but if I had a choice I'd take the Carrack.

Carrack is only viable if you have a crew of 3+ players. The Aquila alone is fairly hard to survive with solo. The Carrack will be absolutly useless if you are solo and almost useless if you are 2. The best thing to do is to get the aquila and then use it ingame and farm for a Carrack until you find a crew of 3+ players.

I already have a carrack.. I’d rather get a second carrack than an additional Aquila. It’s not that the Aquila is bad just that there is no comparison and the Aquila is overpriced.
