I dislike this video. Not because it is a bad video, it is a great video, but because it shines a spotlight on the worst of humanity within the gaming community. When i read or see people attacking other people and attempting to destroy each others' lives over games or opinions of said games, i just get this very sad, sinking feeling within me. Why can't people swallow their absurd pride in something that is irrelevant to their real lives for a moment to think before they act or talk online instead of outright attacking somebody for a thing that nobody will care about in 5 or 10 years later?

Does any sane person really think that ruining or possibly traumatizing somebody online for the rest of their lives is worth it for something that will maybe last 15 years at best?

TL;DR: Stop being mean to each other.

I don't care about development hell as long as the workers are happy and the game is good.
and why can't they just put the 2 games into a single one?

EA could learn a thing or two from them.

P.S. 2019 and still no full game released. I will come back to this comment every year.

star citizen seems to attract incels who just want to buy "success" in a virtual world.
the mere thought of that second life not lifting off makes them rage.

People who still think Star Citizen is not a scam, or a scam that was unwillingly created by a madman are the same people who think Germany could have won WW2 if Hitler would not have intervene with the generals

When I heard about star citizen, about a few months ago, I thought "Oh that sounds awesome". Seeing how the community acts and how progress is going just makes me lose interest in all honesty

What problem do you have with germans? This is the 2nd video from you where you have a stupid german reference. Such generelalization and bias? That´s poor….

As a backer for Star Citizen for a few years now. I really enjoyed your take on the majority of the community. I learned a bit and just genuinely liked the video!

Over 200m blown… $25,000 vapourware digital ship packs to fly in a non existent game…. it ain't funny, the gall of this guy to continue to ask for money… it's criminal

Like I sometimes play the alpha here and there, but I've never talked with the community before. I met someone once who said that it was disrespectful to say the game wasn't good and that I should be banned from ever playing it.

This is going to be even more fun to watch when the game is released.

If you honestly cant' see how well things have come together in later years you are hardly trying. I get it, there are reasons to worry, you have some valid points and with a project of this scope many things can definitely go wrong. It is, however, already growing in popularity as the modules are slowly growing together. The game is already a lot of fun and it's becoming more fun by every quarterly release. This game is going to fly as long as they can keep up enough income when it is released. That's mainly what I'm worrying about.

I don't mind that it doesn't take ages (see: as it would in reality) to move from A to B and I am fine with closer and faster combat than i.e. EVE (FFS – YES!).

They didn't have a lot of money in the early years – nowhere near what was needed for today's ambition, but this has gradually converged. Many seem to miss this important point.

Jesus christ, that NAMBLA bit caught me off guard.

Edit: Also, the stuff you talk about with Roberts and how he promises stuff and his ambition reminds me a lot of a couple other well known, often reviled game developers who kept promising things that they couldn't deliver on. That's right, Peter Molyneux and The No Man's Sky Dude. These three people all seem to have very little self control and ability to tell themselves or others "no." "Can you fly a massive carrier?" "Sure you can!" is the kind of conversation these people have, unable or unwilling to ever appear to have limits or restraint. It's sad.

Hey, I'm from the future, I'm here to tell you that in 2019, Squadron 42 has been delayed once again and we're four days away from them missing the delivery that they gave for their latest delay. 😀

So I just pieced this together, but the HR woman mentioned in a lot of Chris Robert's rambling letters to the Escapist and in a lot of Derek Smart's allegations about the company hiring unqualified people turned out to be a fucking psychopath. From this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK0lBgv_TTo she stalked Chris Robert's ex-wife and also broke into Chris' home and tried to strangle him. Maybe those outlandish accusations of nepotism about her weren't so outlandish after all. The truth is stranger than fiction when it comes to Chris Roberts and Star Citizen.

It's so weird, when you're in-game, the community is probobly one of, if not the most helpful ever, eager to assist new players and address problems to help people…but anywhere else….the subreddit, the forums, any decending opinion or article, comments, blogs, litteraly anywhere else, they are the most vile, un filtered, rude, one minded assholes you will ever meet,

worse than cs:go and league because these are grown ass adults who mean every word, and cannot accept anything other than total conformity…It's like they're living on a whole other planet with themselves, and worship Chris Roberts as some kind of diety. No sarcasm, no criticism, no broke people, no one below age 21, and no one who doesnt think boomer humor is the best humor. Seriously, go to the subreddit, the only upvoted posts are the most vapid, surface level memes that belong in 2001, when people thought "Charlie bit my finger" was funny

This game feels like Anor Londo, and the community are like the undead jumping into the bonfire one after the other. They just cant burn fast enough.

Star citizen community is extremely delusional. They refuse to acknowledge any flaws/problems etc, the game has and believes everything regarding star citizen is perfect. Even the terrible PR can’t be criticized and they refer to that Derek wash up as: “he who must not be named”.

Whenever I find a youtube gaming content creator (especially one that reviews/states what’s good/bad about the game) and find out that they’re star citizen cultists, and hype up the game as perfect and a gift from God, I immediately stop watching all content from them. E.g.) Nerdslayer is one of the star citizen cultist fuckboys, that hype up the game as perfect and the next big thing that was developed by some divine being, whenever star citizen is brought up. And like all SC cultists, he’s extremely delusional about all the delays, cancellations, exuberant real cash store, terrible PR, and wasting of large amounts of the budget of aspects of the game that were ultimately trashed (“star citizen can do no wrong, star citizen is perfect, star citizen is the one” kind of shit).

Along with being a SC cultist and the fact he calls himself a “journalist” and has a series “why he doesn’t play (insert MMO)” (where he lists reasons why he doesn’t play a certain game; however his listed reasons are always contradictory and pretty much pure bullshit…. series is a petty attempt at throwing low key shade at the game). Made myself and many others realize he pulls out most of his arguments out of his ass.

Albeit, he does explicitly state that his reasons are just his personal opinions and not fact, they are not well educated nor well researched opinions (AKA pulled out of his ass). And being a SC cultist evinces the aforementioned opinion.
