+TheNOOBIFIER1337 I just wonder… if we will have replacement limbs in-game (like robotic hands, etc) after critical injury or even lost limb then… what will happen to it after EMP blast? It will be non functional for small part of time or it wont affect it? And if it affect then what happen if let say – pilot have one or two robotic hand and then EMP blast hit him. His hands will stop work same as his ship? OR what if that robotic implants are eyes or other parts.
I just imagine how "enhanced soldier" wait for attack and second before goes EMP blast. All HUDs goes down, radio goes down, solder stop seeing or able to use weapon cause hands/legs goes down.

I've always been the healer in MMO's and a medic in Battlefield games, so this might be one of my future jobs in SC too.

My first hook for Star Citizen was the idea of running a Cutless Red search and rescue vessel. In most FPS games like Battlefield, I love running the medic or engineer class and helping folks. So this video was fun to watch. I have not look up a lot on the Catipillar because it is a huge ship I cannot afford. So I have not invested time to look at it. I knew it was modular, but had not idea it could be set up as a triage hospital or medical vessel. That gets me a little excited about other vessels. I was unaware of the damage to character concepts of useless limbs that may have to be replaced or rehabilitated. Back in the day in Star Wars Galaxies I was a professional Doctor and made a ton of cash with buffs and end game content healing people.

    Great video +The NOOBIFIER1337

Sorry normally I like your videos but speculation videos I hate everything in this video is off information when the game was still in its child states. Honestly Jobs and aspects that haven't been released don't need videos unless its debate. The fact is all this could and probably will change before it ever gets implemented what they laid out wasn't fact but more of a vision of a possible future. To take it as fact before its implemented is setting yourself and everyone who just watched this video for disappointment.

I love the look of the hospital Endeavour, but I don't know when you'd need so many beds! Unless you're roleplaying I imagine most people will be in a bed for a few minutes and then will be able to leave, unless there's a HUGE battle going on I think just a few beds would suffice.

This isn't particularly to do with being a Medic, although I guess you could use it to ferry doctors and medical aid, but what's your opinion on the Genesis starliner? Think it'll see much use?

I'd love to know the types of medication, the equipment and maybe the procedures used in the medic role, Like for instance, in Star wars there's baca or kloto, tanks and stuff, what will Star Citizen have?

I was really interested in S&R initially, but upon reading the forums there was a lot of people who are intending to KOS, or shoot first and ask questions later with regards to the cutlass red, as it was seen as helping the enemy. The pirates only see these craft as an opportunity to make money, from the ship or medical items aboard, even human trafficking the injured and I do not see the point in paying for escort services to rescue people.

Until CIG come clear on how the medics can be protected for providing a service I am holding off purchasing the cutlass red. Unfortunately this profession is also the last one to be introduced to the PTU. This leads me to believe CIG are thinking hard about how to introduce this as a worthwhile career.

P.S. well done on another great vlog Noobs!

Nicely done sir. This is a great summary of very important game mechanics. It has also convinced me to add a Red to my fleet. Im looking forward to the cutlass rework and your coverage of thw process.

Interesting take on the medic role Noob. What do you foresee the gameplay is when you are a Popsicle in space waiting for the cutlass red? Is your game play over for the next 5, 30 minutes, hours? Do you kind of foresee it as the role of the fuel rats in Elite?

that first scenario won't happen. sitting there twiddling my thumbs waiting for a rescue in the vastness of space, aka relying on another player to revive me (bf1 taught me people won't revive you 1m away from them, imagine trying to find people willing to travel the universe to do so, compared to the people who will be injured). more likely is you can send out a distress signal and wait for a pickup, resulting in maybe reduced cost of revive, or your death won't count towards your lifepoints, etc. or you can respawn and wake up at the nearest hope aircraft or outpost but for a hefty premium and it counts towards your lives

I hope the injuries work similar to star Wars Galaxies where people would lose a section of their health bar for dying and needed a doctor to cure.

been super excited for the game, reason i invested a bit of money in it, even if i know i didn't expect to want to play the game or for the reasons other common players would have for but this really makes me excited. I would love to just be a cargo hauler and neutral healer exploring space, sounds like so much fun ^^

I remember a while back (I believe it was in 10FTCM) when it was said that you would "pass on" to another character if you died. I hope that they expand to that so when you are stuck in deepspace you can "swap" characters and you will get a notification (like a buddy wristband or something) that your main character is safe or have reached contact.

It would still keep the game in pace while still being realistic.

I really liked your scenarios and I think they're believable.

But I am not sure how it would work out in a game. Imagine if you're stuck in space with no one in sight to help. Wouldn't you just end your own misery so you can respawn? I'm not sure how many players would actually wait around for someone to help them. Which then brings up the question: What kind of role do these medical facilities really have?

Must there be a game mechanic that forces people to wait around at least for a while? But that won't be very fun having to wait a couple minutes before each respawn. I think you guys get what i'm getting at.

    Thoughts?

For the sake of this game and it's actual playability , I really hope none of your perma-death projections actually come to fruition. With how easy it is to die in this game, or any game for that matter, the mechanic of perma-death would dangerously reduce the player base in a matter of weeks due to frustrated players who wouldn't have the time to devote to a game where you would have to reset so many assets all the time. Overly complex healing mechanics with so many steps and moving parts that would be required to get a player back to a state where they can even play the game again would make this almost unplayable. Just one thing going wrong in any situation from a random bullet to the right place, or a game glitch that sends you clipping into an asteroid would render you incapable of actually playing the game for hours to even days if you're unlucky enough by these predictions.

The one career class that does not appeal to me. Doctors, medics, cyberneticist and organ (medical pirate) harvesters only interest me to keep me alive or to avoid in case I value my organs.

Hey dude, your videos are by far the best quality star citizen videos on youtube. They get me more hyped than the CIG releases.
Just wondering, as you said you were in Canadian Recon, we did a joint op with Canadian recon, Americans Danes etc in 2008, inserting into Nawa just north of Garmsir, south of Lash Ka Ghar, any chance you were on that one :0

I have to say, I hope they flush out the medical career fields as much as the mining and other professions. In reality I work in the med field for the military, and having a comprehensive system for frontline trauma care would be incredible. It's a lot to try to break down and make game play friendly but there are a few games or mods (ahem Arma) that have done so. Honestly if CIG did make such a system I would endeavor to be the best damned Combat Corpsman for hire haha. After all, with a good StarDoc by your side any StarMarine would be invincible!

I had grad idea of making a org that is Mercenary; Search and Rescue, and Field Repair. The idea, sell our experience, talents, through our ships to org wars. It sounds great on paper, but then falls apart in practicality, as most orgs that are going to care about recovering ships, scrap, and personnel, will already have that underway. In addition, the common player wouldn't be able to separate a contract from the org, so if/when a clients rival org saw us, even if were not contractually bound (as the contracts in idea were per assault) would pop us for no reason. That means we would need a security detail, and then we might as well be a full blown org. So their was those wrinkles, as well as a few others, that kept it from going live. Tho, being an independent guy in the right area at the right time, sounded better… or just announcing this was my roll, and getting hired on for that, works far better.

This is one place where the potential of Star Citizen really becomes evident. You might transition from multi crewing a starship in a space battle to tactical PvP to combat medic to surgery-while-blockade-running to hospitalization all in one arbitrary series of events. The service careers are some of the most interesting parts of the whole game…
