Tales From the Campfire: Earn the Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge

What kind of story is this? This is the story of whales with a flat tire. No, no, no, no. It’s Tales From the Campfire. Tell that to the whale whose tire we just changed. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it. Have fun. “This is my gift, my curse. Who am I? I’m Spider-Man.” And … end quote. Thank you. And scene. For the last time, Madison. We have to pick a speech from a president, like Benjamin Franklin. But the 2002 Spider-Man starring Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst and directed by Sam Raimi is an American classic. Did you know Willem Dafoe perform 90% of his own stunts? You’re both wrong. Ben Frank wasn’t
a president and the speech you pick for requirement six of the Citizenship
in the Nation merit badge just has to be of national historical importance, like a
president, civil rights leader or a famous athlete. But a spandex-wearing
Spidey? Nah. I’ve got the perfect speech. When I was a part of the Model UN, I
recited the Gettysburg Address, where the ultra-humble Abe Lincoln didn’t know he was spitting fire. “The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but
it can never forget what they did here. …” Chase, talking to your souvenir stuffed
animal collection, that doesn’t count as the Model UN. Beith, you’re missing the point. You never know how important a speech
can be. Abe Link had no idea that we’d still be quoting that speech today. And you’re kidding yourself if you think Mr. Ninnymuggins will ever forget what I
taught him in the Model UN. He’s right. I guess you’re right. Pete Parker’s speech doesn’t hold up next to one of the most important speeches of
all time. Thanks, guys. My mind’s been off since Scoutmaster Marigold got hired as a PE coach. I’ll find a new speech. Did someone say speech? This one will really get under your skin! Did you know the human body has 206 bones? All of which I will name for you now. Sternum, humerus, patella, fibula, tibia, ulna… With all due respect, I’d rather listen to Chase talk to his stuffed animals. That’s not what they are! Sorry, buddy. I meant Model UN. … rib 4, rib 5, rib 6, rib 7 … I think I remember the rest. Everybody, sit down and listen up. OK, Mr. Ninnymuggins ears up. It is for us the living rather
to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who have fought here have thus so far nobly advanced it is rather for us to be here (SQUEAK,SQUEAK) … Please, everybody … OK, Mr. Ninnymuggins, listen up. Everybody, stop talking. Be quiet! It’s my turn! It is rather for us to be here
dedicated to the great task remaining before us. That we for the dedication (MA MA) Hey! Be quiet! I’m trying to get through this is an important speech, everybody. Duckie, lay down. OK, here I go. And so, my fellow Americans, that’s one
step for liberty, truth, justice, and the American flag, which proudly shall wave
with mountains and prairies and a government for the people, by the people,
for the people, and of the people shall not cherish from the earth. Everybody’s
listening to my speech! Thank you and play ball!
