UN celebrates Nelson Mandela Day in honour of ‘exemplary global citizen’

Today, on the first Nelson
Mandela International Day, we thank him for everything
he has done for freedom, for justice, for democracy. He showed the way. He changed the world. We are profoundly
grateful. ”The world remains beset by
so much human suffering, poverty and deprivation. It is in your hands… to make of our world… a better one for all.” From July 18,
raise your hands and make a dedicated
effort to keep helping others in
any way you can. Make every day
a Mandela day. “It is in your hands to
make a difference.”
